Cast of Characters
________________

In the seminar, Mr. Carabello will role play objections and excuses given by patients such as, “The doctor only saw me for 5 minutes,” “I never received a statement,” and “My insurance was to pay,” as well as your funniest ones, so make sure you come prepared with a good one!  The Collection Professor will demonstrate how to and how not to handle these objections with the help of his cast of characters.  Feel free to volunteer to be the “bad patient;” it releases a lot of stress!
Here is the cast of characters used by the Collector U presenters for role playing:

The collection professor is the all-knowing collection guru who can overcome all of the objections and excuses that are thrown at him by every patient.  He is always calm and unemotional when talking to each patient, and handles the situation as professionally as possible.  He takes pride in being a terrific leader and loves to teach everyone how to handle collections the way he does.  In each of his seminars, he does just that.

Barbell Bruce used to be a dedicated health guru.  He has since aged, but thinks that he is still the gym fly that he’s always been.  Since his health has been ailing, he has been visiting the doctor’s office more and more.  Barbell Bruce is also the pretentious princess’ ex-husband who thinks she is crazy, and doesn’t want to pay for any of their children’s medical bills let alone his own!  He feels that paying for his protein shakes and personal trainer is more important than his doctor’s bills.  He says “The doctor is rich enough anyway, he doesn’t need my money!”
Debty Eddie is the ultimate cool guy.  He’s young, he’s fun, and he’s got a different girlfriend each weekend.  Eddie has no problem going to the newest, hottest club on the block and spending money like it grows on trees, but when it comes to his medical bills he’s a bit more of a penny-pincher.  When he calls your office, you know he’s going to have a problem with the way your staff treated him during his visit, the amount of time he had to wait to see the doctor, and the fact that he has to pay for his medical treatment in general.
The pretentious princess visits the plastic surgeon frequently to get her dose of botox and collagen shots, as well as other cosmetic procedures.  She racks-up numerous bills from her medical providers, but never pays them because she’s too busy spending her money on her materialistic lifestyle.  She has an answer for everything that a bill collector says to her, and always weasels her way out of paying her bills.  Did I mention that she is unemployed, and collects welfare and food-stamps on top of everything?  The princess will pay her bills “once she has everything in the world that she wants.”
Terrible Tommy is a wise guy through and through to anyone who calls to collect on his medical and dental bills, with a smart comment to follow each of their requests to collect. He’s a smooth-talker to any of the ladies who call – discussing his personal life and asking them on dates to avoid discussing his debt.  He also has a lot of medical bills for his two sons that he refuses to assist his ex-wife with, even though he is the guarantor. He is recently divorced and opts against paying those bills as well.  Tommy’s way of thinking is, “he’ll pay his bills when he’s a millionaire.”  His favorite comeback is, “What’re you gonna do?”
